Pied RH Parrot with RH Parrot?

Post by G8love4finches » Mon Apr 25, 2011 10:47 am

Breeding a Pied RH Parrot male to a RH Parrot female will give you Pied babies?....or split to pied?.....I read in another thread that the pied is dominant?...or will the clutch be 50/50 split pied and normal?......I would love an experienced RH Parrot breeder to clarify this for me....

I am not necessarily overly experienced with the genetics of the Parrot finches but IMO any pied crossed with normal and I assume all the young are either light pied (still to manifest in later molts or split pied) Once that pied gene is in there it comes out at will.

I actually have found it incredibly difficult to find pure red headed parrot finches here. All inevitable start becoming lightly pied or throw out pied young.

Pied is dominant to non-pied. So if you breed pied to non-pied you will get mostly pied babies. :)
