Breast color?

Post by JRs Gouldians » Fri May 06, 2011 11:41 am

This is one of my guys in quarantine who is still going through is first molt. What do you guys make of his breast color that's coming in?

(Also this is the little guy who got his toe caught and as you guys suggested, I left it alone. It has not fallen off but is facing the wrong direction.)

Looks dirty white breast to me with a hint of melanism which will most likely molt out

Hmm. When I look at him in natural light it seems like his chest is somewhat like a dark lilac and the then the top part looks like a deep blue/very dark purple. I know some dirty white breasts can look somewhat blue/lilac but "to me" it does not seem to like dirty white's iv seen online. But from what I have read if he does not color out this time *like you said* usually the next molt they will lose this spotty coloring. Lets hope.

I see what you mean about there being a deeper lilac color, it's very possible he could molt out lilac instead :)

I love this color 8) and wish they would stay this way but they usually molt out to either white or lilac :|
