Hybrid? From what?

These are not my birds, they're from a friend of mine here in Vietnam, but I found it's interesting so I wanna share with you guys.
So, that guy had two society and he loved them so much, he wanted to maintain the light cream colour so he breed them with each other.
this is the result:

I know this is a hybrid, but the societies were kept in separate cage, so no other birds could come in to make that happened.
What do you guys think?

I think I see part Shaftail (aka Hecks, aka Longtail) finch in there.

It looks like mélange between an shaft-tail finch and a spice finch or chocolate society (some sort of Mannikan or Lochura). Are the two light societies the parents or siblings?

I see shafttail too, but the funny thing is there's no shaft tail in that breeding cage, what do you think, the parents are somehow carrying the shaftail gene? So one of them, or both, are actually hybrids?
And yes the parents are siblings.

Do you know if your friend has Shafttails? I know you said the Societies were housed in a separate cage, but if he has Shafttails, maybe his shafttail copulated with the society before he housed them separately? Female finches can "store" sperm in their bodies for a period of time after copulation. Or, as you suggest, maybe there is a hidden hybrid gene in both the societies? I would think the gene would be in both parents -- being that they are siblings.

It would be interesting to see if they produce another one in future clutches. If not it may be a case of stored sperm in the hen.

I don't know about Shaftails, but that one reminds me of the Spice finches and Chocolate self. The tail looks a lot like an owl finch markings too. Hmm.

I'm sorry, but is it shafttail or shaftail? I've always spelt it shafttail with two "t's" but everyone seems to be spelling it with only one. Usually when one is the minority amongst the majority, the solo person is wrong. I guess I'm going to have to change the way I spell the name.

Interesting little bird - I also see Shaft tail ( I don't know the correct version either) . Well I suppose because societies themselves are all domesticated hybrids from different mannikins (I think spice is one) perhaps the occassional reverted gene is explainable? They have been domesticated for so long though that rarely if ever do you see a "wild" parent gene popping up.

I would initially also go with the hen was coupulated with prior to nesting. Is this possible HoangQuan, that the hen was kept with others prior to nesting?

ok...interesting efinch shows it as shaft-tail and finch aviary.com shows it as one word 2 t's shafttails. BirdBizaar.com shows it as shafttails also...so is shafties really shaftties or shafties????

Now back to the mystery bird...the base of the rump/tail the barring pattern doesn't look owl (owl tails are dark brown) but the tail taper on the end is like that of a shaftail. The barring on the tail almost looks a little zebra then tapers to a shaftail feathering including the point....there looks to have been shaftail in the genetics hidden in one of the parents somewhere. In this case both parents are siblings so it increased it's chances of showing itself. So on the genetic chart it was time to cycle and show itself.
