Breeding for White Societies...

Post by Mozelle » Thu Aug 04, 2011 9:32 am

Hi everyone :)

Well - two nests of societies early this spring, and with the courting going on in my communal cage I thought I might just set up a couple of breeding cages once more. They've all had a great rest and the babes are doing so well :)

I would like to breed for white societies. I did purchase one youngster, but sadly it succumbed to stress. :(
I've found conflicting articles:
1 - breed fawns together
2 - breed a chocolate and a fawn
Without being aware of most of my current birds' parentage I know I can pretty much expect Anything ;-) But has anyone seen a "pattern" of colour breeding that may be more successful than simple chance?

I also have a number of cresteds (2 double crested as well) that I can add to the mix, and will do so anyway. Ultimately I would like to breed to white cresteds.. love those little hairdos ;-)

Thanks!!

I wish I knew the recipe to get white Society offspring! I have one (from Janine) that I paired with a crested pied and I got 4 pied Society babies - one with a crest!

I think we need to get Janine to divulge her secret! =D>

I really do wish that I had a secret to divulge
Here are pictures of my pair. Their first 2 clutches had 1 white baby in each, first clutch Tiny Tim, and the second clutch Liz`s red eyed white.
3rd clutch produced 3 red eyed whites out of 6 babies  I am really looking forward to giving them back their nest to see what pops out of it next time 8)

I actually used to. 8) Moved back here 23 years ago when my father`s health was failing (lucky I did, he only lasted 5 months longer :( ) After which I met my hubby and....well life happened. =D> =D>

I lived in Grande Prairie, Suffield, Spirit River and Medicine Hat. Small world. 8)
