Mixing different color Gouldian head colors = blotchy color?

Post by Anne73 » Fri Sep 09, 2011 1:14 pm

Does mixing different head colors in breeding Gouldian finches result in blotchy head color? I read that it can, especially in hens. Have you found this to be your experience or not? If so, is it more common in certain head color combinations than others?

I have never had a problem with blotchy colours.

I have bred 100's of babies with mixed Gouldian couples - no problem ever with blotchiness anywhere on their bodies.

The "muddy" looking hens I've produced came from same head color pairings. I think this is anecdotal wives' tale.
