I'm not sure whether this is more appropriate for the breeding or genetics section, but is anyone aware whether male and female Gouldians typically have a different foot color?
My RH-PB-Normal male has yellow feet, as does 1 of his 3 new chicks. My RH-PB-Normal/Blue hen has much lighter feet -- more beige -- as do 2 of their 3 chicks. Could this possibly mean they have 1 male chick and 2 hens?

Link between Gouldian sex and foot color?

- The foot color on the 1 chick roosting beside its dad is the same color as his dad's -- while the other 2 chicks have the same foot color as their mom. Any significance to this at all? (Sorry for the distortion -- my birds seem to have no fear of the camera, as long as it's kept OUTSIDE the cage! Fitting the lens perfectly between the bars is nearly impossible, but that's usually the only way I can get photos -- unless I want to show them in a panic. LOL)

Currently the parent of 4 Gouldian males: 1 RH PB Normal, 1 RH WB Normal, 1 BH PB Normal and a YH LB BB. Have kept Gouldians since Oct. 2010 and raised 3 chicks with a former pairing of the RH PB GB I still have and a hen that I later traded (pair seen in avatar).

Re: Link between Gouldian sex and foot color?
Hi Dave!
In my experience, foot colors had nothing to do with gender of gouldians...but have maybe more to do (that's my opinion) with blue back carrier for pinkish foot color and orange head (carrier or Orange Head) for more orange foot color...but it's just an impression, not a "certitude"...
Time will reveal what is the verity for your birds...Take pictures and notes about foot colors and the results after molt... It's the best way to get some objective datas...
