Unsafe gouldian pairings?

Just wondering what all "unsafe" or "lethal" pairings of gouldians are. I know blue x blue is controversial but what about the rest of the mutations?

I understand Silver x Silver is a bigger no no than Blue x Blue.

That's about it as far as I know.

Oh ok so yellow x yellow would be ok or silver x blue. Just as long as you dont pair the same mutation you should be ok. Is that right?

Dayna -- I feel like Nixity's (Tiffany) explanation on this is most easily understood. I'm attaching the link to her website. Anything with a "*" next to it is not recommended in terms of pairings. Good luck.

silver is a blue...so no silver to blue.
Not that you can't breed these...blue to blue or silver to blue but you should have an exceptional healthy line to do that, best left to the experts. I prefer to breed a blue or silver with a greenback split for blue; or a yellow split to blue. Green is dominant, yellow is the next dominant, blue third, silver last... the more recessive the trait the more likely hood of weakness in the bird...so breeding two of the more recessive colors together could produce smaller, weaker chicks. When you go back to the green or yellow splits you still can get blues and silvers and they tend to be larger healthier birds. This is what I have found in my breeding room experiments.
I had been told many different things by different breeders that is why I have bred just about everything to everything so I would have hands on experience in these matters. I have some bery nice birds from silver blue pairings but I also have some real runts and lost some others that just had too weak of an immune system. My conclusion is why take that chance. Anyway this is the answer to your why and why not part of the question :D

Bugaboo - Thank you for posting that website. It helped out immensely!

Candace - I had no idea that silver was actually a blue! Like you I have been told so many different things from different breeders and have read so many different things on the internet that I really didn't know what to believe so (naturally ) I decided to put a post up on FF to find out exactly whats true and whats not.

Thank you very much all!
