i noticed one of my female gouldians has a small but noticeable black and blue sort of patch on her head. She also has other black patches on her head but doesn't have the blue bit in it. I was wondering if anyone had seen this before. She's currently looking for a nest with her mate which also has a little bit of blue running through his head but has more coverage but less intensity.
what ever it is i really hope it is passed down to her offspring so i can see where we go from there. Sorry for the poor quality photo its hard for the camera to focus on stuff right up close.

I have noticed this on some of my BH hens also. For some reason some of the dark melanins are allowed to show through. Normally with this mutaion the darker pigments are absent thus producing the white head instead of black. Sometimes I have dark pigments show up whether it's dark spots on the head or green spots on the back.
I have found that the trait does pass down to the offsprings.
