I have finally decided that those white feathers on the nape of his neck are indeed a sign of pied. I could not tell if it was just under feathers or what but i think he is indeed split to pied!
you can kinda see it in this pic(lux is dad)

would that explain his extremely white belly?

here is a good pic of it, nape of his neck

the grey (or white, cant see it) feathers
on his neck indicate that he was plucked
in this area at some point...
Here is a pictue of one of my hens,
she was plucked and the feathers grew back white.

he has had these feathers since he fledged. i thought at first that it was plucking but he has had them for forever... unless they plucked the same area over and over before he fledged..

its completely fine

i thought I was wrong haha but yeah, my friend bred them and i got to see him as a baby. i never got to go into the aviary though, so i never saw the parents and i have lost contact with her since then. i think she moved away... the second pic is a better pic though if you can try to see it, don't strain!! haha
what does a really white belly mean?

He is not split pied. If he was he would have it on his chin or flight feathers. He could have been plucked in the nest..

NO if he IS pied then he will have white flight feathers. i don't know what your definition of pied is but pied means that there is a lack of a certain pigment in certain areas of the feathers. if he had only edged white feathers(1 white flight feather or more) he would be light pied. if he had a lot of white(without a certain mutation) he would be normal pied. if he was almost completely white(without certain mutation) he would be heavy pied. if he had NO colored feathers left(except for MAYBE the tear mark-without certain mutation) then he would be clear pied.
Splits could be anything from
random white feathers on the body
white chin
white flanks in random places
Pied is my favorite mutation and i know almost anything there is to know about pied.....

To identify a split the bird has white on the chin/head area or flight feathers, that's my definition

sorry

i wasn't attacking you , but the literal definition is what i said above. if it has white flight feathers then it is pied. that is the definition... if it is split then the flight feathers won't be white but a feather on the head, neck back ect ect white on the chin is a sign of a split
