orange lace!?
Now i am so confused. On the few fligts closest to lux's boday on the right side and two on the left side there is reddish orange-color of his flanks but more orangish on the edges of his feathers! It. Also has very few but there, white flecs in the orange.
So now i am confused! He has normal tail stripes,so it cannot be possible bb split. His tail is normal. I did notice ONE orange cheek feather that looked out of place but it was small,And thats what it could have been,An out of place feather.
His flanks have one or two strange stretched white fo sure on each side. And the flanks go into the chest bar. Very. Slightly.
So i feel stupid. I was sure he was ng /fawn and nothing else. I have been reading efinch but it still dos not explain normal tail stripes!goodness me, what am i to do?

Sounds like your young birds are coloring up...you need to wait until they are completely colored up to tell exactly what they are... their new feathers should be in within a few weeks.

Re: orange lace!?
you still need to watch the young to see what they turn out to be because they "may" hold the key to what he is split to.

Re: orange lace!?
Sorry, but I do not think you discovered a new mutation.
if you can, breed him again, to see if you get fawn hens. Ot won't make a difference what you pair him to, because he should produce fawn hens if he is split to fawn

Re: orange lace!?
If he is split he will produce ng females and fawn females. He could produce onlyng females but he could stiill produce fawns as well. If he is full fawn, all fmales will be fawn

Re: orange lace!?
A new mutation. I don't think so.
Like said before, he might be split to BB, since orange lacing is sometimes indicator of BB splits.
But like said also before, you won't ever know if he is split or not unless you breed him with a hen that is split BB or BB.
Also if you never get any fawn hens from him, he is not split. Though they don't always come in every clutch. But if you breed him the third time and get no fawn hens, I doubt he is split fawn.
If he is split fawn bred with a normal female then these are you chances of offspring:
25% Normal Females
25% Normal Males
25% Fawn Females
25% Normal/Fawn Males

Lol i know its not a new mutation. But whether he is split fawn or not, there is orange in his wings and that is not normal grey markings for sure. If it were white lacing like lolita,i would think nothing of it!

Re: orange lace!?
I pulled up you old post on Lux...
http://www.finchforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=18544
to me visually he is a Normal gray
you need to let the babies feather/color out completely then take it from there.
