Yup I see grey on the one you posted. If I enlarge the first picture it looks lighter then in smaller picture in the post. That's why I don't like to say 100% from a picture. It must be my monitor... I sure see black... do you see black (grey) in the pics I posted?
This is what I've been told as well. Straw head could mean yellow, red, or genetically both.CandoAviary wrote: Most people call it straw because they simply don't know what genetically the birds is. Only if you breed it or the person you bought her from bred and kept records of the genetic lineage will you know if it is genetically a yellow head or a red head.
LOL ... it could always be my eyes that aren't working today!CandoAviary wrote:Okay..I enlarged it and still see grey... I also know these eyes of mine aren't what they use to beAs long as I don't try to sell someone a black head gouldian for a red headed in person... I will be okay
I thought strawhead indicates yellowhead??debbie276 wrote:That's funny, I don't see any black in those pictures at all. Also as a FYI there are no genetic "straw" heads, they will be red or yellow genetically but visually straw or beige color.
CandoAviary wrote:Those look like 2 different birds to me... or else some very strange lighting.. The one in the first 2 look BH the last looks straw head... you won't know if the head is RH or YH unless you know what the parents were. The red and yellow heads look the same on silvers.
with it being a single factor, the bird can show some black..grey in this instance.
