Your silver male appears yellow headed or "straw head" to me. Beautiful bird.

Red or orange, black head would be visually white.

Those look like 2 different birds to me... or else some very strange lighting.. The one in the first 2 look BH the last looks straw head... you won't know if the head is RH or YH unless you know what the parents were. The red and yellow heads look the same on silvers.
with it being a single factor, the bird can show some black..grey in this instance.
A BH WB sf SB
A RH (strw) RH WB sf

That's funny, I don't see any black in those pictures at all. Also as a FYI there are no genetic "straw" heads, they will be red or yellow genetically but visually straw or beige color.

It must be my monitor... I sure see black... do you see black (grey) in the pics I posted?
Most people call it straw because they simply don't know what genetically the birds is. Only if you breed it or the person you bought her from bred and kept records of the genetic lineage will you know if it is genetically a yellow head or a red head.
You could possibly figure out what the head color was with test breedings with other mutations. Depending on what the outcome of the chicks head colors would eventual identify the true genetic head color of this bird... but that could take years and a lot of babies

Maybe Tiffany can shed some light on a faster line of breeding to expose the genetics of this bird

Yup I see grey on the one you posted. If I enlarge the first picture it looks lighter then in smaller picture in the post. That's why I don't like to say 100% from a picture.

Okay..I enlarged it and still see grey... I also know these eyes of mine aren't what they use to be

As long as I don't try to sell someone a black head gouldian for a red headed in person... I will be okay

This is what I've been told as well. Straw head could mean yellow, red, or genetically both.

As explained by the Finch Information Centers genetic section:
Blue body is an autosomal recessive gene, so both cocks and hens can be double-factor (DF) and express the color blue or single-factor (SF) and be "split" for blue body. Birds will appear blue in color only when a bird carrying only "green" sex chromosome(s) (as opposed to yellow) is also DF for the blue body gene. This body color can occur in combination with any head or breast color, however,
because the blue gene suppresses the expression of red and yellow, any bird with a genetically red or yellow head will appear to have a salmon colored head, and the normally yellow belly will appear off-white.
