What mutations are my zebras?

Hey guys, I would like to know the mutations of my zebras, I'm going to breed them and I don't really care on 'what makes the perfect baby finches' I just want a happy breeding pair

Help would be greatly appreciated

Female is fawn male appears to be a possible lightback split to fawn

if this is correct you should expect from the pair

fawn female ~ LB/fawn male

offspring:
25.0% Females >> Fawn , Light Back
25.0% Males >> Fawn / Light Back
25.0% Females >> Gray, Light Back
25.0% Males >> Gray / Fawn , Light Back

Thanks Cindy, one thing that I should probably mention, is the breeder i got them from said the male was normal and the female was fancy? Don't really know what that means :3

Thanks Cindy, the breeder I got them from said that the male was "normal" and the female was "fancy"?

Fancy generally mean Florida fancy and is usually used in regards to a male, the females are termed as Isabels. Looking at her visually she looks like a fawn possibly split to pied (white wing edges, white on top ot the head, white around the face) Her tear is very pronounced, the breeder may have said fancy (as in pretty) due to her markings. What were her parents? Isabels typically have little or no tears. http://www.efinch.com/species/ffxisabelzeb.htm

There is a site that is very good for zebra mutations, full of realy good information...I use this often

Thanks Cindy, so is she normal fawn? not split for anything, and is Zebby a definite lightback? and also is he split for anything? I want to be precise even though I'm breeding just for the hobby

She looks to be a fawn...he maybe LB/fawn.

there is no telling what they are carring genetic wise, you often can not tell what they have hidden until you breed them.

Ok, so I got a reply back, the breeder said that Issa is from 2 Isabel parents, and Zebby was from 2 normals

The tear is very dark for an Isabel but it can happen...so this is what you may expect just based on what the breeder is telling you the parents are:

Issa fawn isabel Zebby normal

50% Normal/Isabel Fawn Males
50% Normal/Isabel Females

now if Zebby is hidding a fawn trait you should see fawn males and females

25% Fawn /Isabel Males
25% Fawn /Isabel Females
25% Normal/Isabel Fawn Males
25% Normal/Isabel Females

Hope this helps some...the best way to see exactly what they carry gene wise is to look at the offspring.

The last bit of info that the breeder gave me is as follows (I'm just copying and pasting the email) :

Yeah,she might have a fawn genetics as I've got some fawn too.im mixing em so might be that my fawn could be a father to him.but her mum wc is Isabel is paired up to another Isabel.she might have done monkey business w d other cockLOL.and birds know too well if egg is infertile,they ditch it out.even d babies if there are some defects theyll kill it as they feel they won't survive later on in life.
