So i am trying to figure out if one of my finches' offspring(if you remember her, Falcon) is split to black cheek. She has quite the thick tears compared to both Lux and Lolita. I will be posting pictures as well, Gus and Falcon live with my neighbor now:)
Just to let you know, FALCON is the one i think is split
Falcon is the little girl facing the camera Gus looking down

You can See falcon in this one Gus is kinda..blacked out haha

Falcon is to the right, Gus to the left
Any comments???

to me she looks normal gray....some BC split females have smudges of black in the breast area. The true way to determine if she is split to BC is pair her with another full visual BC or a split to BC male.

Her tear though is so thick.. maybe thats normal and my finches tears have always been thinner?

male split bc and isabel
I always get beautiful chicks from them.
If the tear is thicker or is bended inwards like this ( or if the female have
black smudges in the chest area and if a male have black in his flank area,
the they are split BC.

I do not think they are as thick as the split BC i have experience with. Elma's last picture is a great example

I REALLY don't know if this counts, BUT Tahny has been being plucked on the side of the face, So i took her out to separate her from the parents(they are hormonal and trying to nest again)
And i was just checking her over for damage(there was none

)
but in the midst of it, i noticed in the chest ONE feather had a TINY tiny black end of it. does that count? you can't see it unless you look VERY close
Also, in a lot of splits to BC, The tear marks go way past the beak, Falcon still has her very long tears, she was the one i was reffering to because her tear is thicker then the others and it goes way down past the beak
By the way, Vargur-what a pretty girl
