Mutation excitement again

Post by LuxandLolita » Fri May 18, 2012 5:32 pm

Well upon the other thread i discovered NOW that my zebra is split to ob as well as bb!
Cindy JUST posted this link of an ob male, EVERYTHING i have been trying to figure out about Lux's mutation has just been explained with this link.
http://zebracrazy.byethost13.com/SplitOB.htm
Here is lux in a similar position when i caught him. I was told this might be a split to Fawn but it's not so much brown as it is almost a light flank color, which is more of an orange
Image
I have found traces of orange in the wings VERY slightly on lux. He also has a very thin tear originally thought to be a split to Black breasted but later found out that that split came from Lolita.
No orange in his tail feathers though.
My main proof is the orange spots in Gus's cheek patch when she was younger! we thought she was male!!
Here he is! proud of my /ob boy!

And this is Gus

I do not think he is split OB.. not only is it very rare, my uncles OB and OB split do not look so close to normal. They show more orangebin the breast, tail and bars.

The daughter has orange on the left cheek. He has to be split to OB because Gus is, There would be no explanation for Gus's orange if he was not split. She is proof.
The proof is always in the breeding correct? he was bred and the Gus shows obvious signs, white in the flank(not split to pied) and orange in one cheek
Hard to see but if i could zoom i would. You can see it in here -Gus-

You are wrong on the breeding thing, that is meant whike breeding to another split or full to get the mutation in the offspring. I have had normal hens with cheeks like that. And his under wing looks like the wing of my split fawn.

Kaite, that is not exactly orange lace. I know what I am telling you. I have first hand experience with these mutations. that wing looks normal. And I have had hens with some cheek color yes. Do not forget I come from a family of breeders.

Well i have never seen a hen with orange in the cheeks. It is not normal nor do i think that it is not a split to SOME mutation. She is not a completely normal grey hen. A hen with so much color though, don't you, coming from a family of breeders, think that she may be split to something?
What would it be then? hm?

I will have to agree with Dante on this one. I like how you're very enthusiastic about the colour mutations and all. But your zebras look like any normal grays to me.

So..I'm sorry, but there isn't anything particularly special about their colour. They're lovely birds though :3

Edit:
This is the colour I got from her cheek

This is orange

I don't understand where you got that color from. the orange is very prominent... the very few slight specks of orange are almost the same color as her beak. Maybe the pictures don't show it well but you can see it in life better. I still don't believe she is ng

If you mean the darker parts, that's just overlapping of feathers. And it is actually a dark tan colour if you zoom in more. Though I can see how it can be mistaken as orange.

She had them when she was young, she has them now. she is six months old and has molted already.. Lost the flecks on one side, gained two on the other.

As for what you said Albinosilver, you don't see the orange? not the darker parts, there is actual orange in her cheek..

I don't. I only see beige and gray.

Could you be confusing some beige for light orange?
