Is there such a thing as split to silver? There is an ad on kijiji with someone trying to sell a yellowback gouldian hen who she says is split to silver. Is this a possibility or is she just trying to make more money off of a "rare" bird.

Silver is considered blue...( blue with yellow factor) so it is the same as saying split to blue. Nothing wrong with saying split to silver...just sounds weird

There is no such thing.

A yellow split to BLUE can produce silver babies if the male is silver, blue, yellow split to blue, or possibly green split to blue if both parents have WB genes.

(Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

There is no such thing as "silver" genetically "silver" is 2 Yellow genes and 2 Blue genes (YellowBlue) or SFYellowBlue, one Yellow gene and 2 Blue genes.
So I'm not possitive what a "split to silver" would mean exactly.

Debbie, I'm not sure either. This lady said in her ad that her bird was split to silver but it didn't make any sense to me so I had to ask.

I'm sure she is confused but meaning carrying the blue gene and being a yellow could possibly make silver young. Sounds like an honest mistake.
