How does the black cheek zebra mutation work?
Yesterday I got a male Black Cheek zebra from a local hobbyist
. Please forgive me as I am new to learning about zebra genetics! I read that black cheek is recessive. So what kind of mutations can I pair him with to keep the black cheeks? I really like darker zebras, like black breast and black face, and I'd like to begin to work with these mutations as well (if I can find any around here that is!!).

Hi, usually to combine two traits you set up 2 pairs, one of each mutation per pair, and breed their offspring. Here is a good article on black cheeks.

If you breed a BC to a BB and take their offspring and breed it to a BF you will get triple black
The site Dante wrote about explains how the mutation works and gives great examples
this is triple black
