I'm sure this someone would have posted this but I thought I would go ahead and do it again. On zebrafinch.info there is a genetic advisor that gives an idea of the offspring of the parents. You just put in what you know. Check it out.

Also on the site is a color advisor. You can put in specific attributes, i.e. fawn, pied, etc. and you get a colored picture of what you should have. Its close enough.

This is very helpful in my pursuit of knowledge regarding this confusing topic of bird genetics.

Thank you. :D :D

I use this for my black cheeks. I have a BC Male with brown flanks and a CWF BC female. So I was suppose to get 25% CWF BC Male, 25% BC Male, 25% normals, 25% BC Greys. Well I ended up with 2 BC female grey and one grey BC male. I'm waiting on the CFW BC male...

This one!!!

The way I understand the calculators, those probabilities apply to each chick in the clutch. So for each chick you get, you have a 25% chance of getting each of those combos.

It's just all confusing either way you look at it. All I can do is keep trying and admiring what comes out :D

Hi. Just a word of warning. I want you to treat me like a two year old. I have used every genetic calculator I could find and all tell you something a little different. So I'm going to give you my two pair and please tell me the babies I will get.

Male-CFW
Female-BC

What babies come from this pairing.

Male -BC
Female-CFW

What babies come from this pairing. (They are opposite colors for the male and female if missed.

Now for the big question:

I want to eventually breed BC CFWs. From the babies from the first and second pair can this be done?

Why do all the calculators say female CFWs can't be split. Can't they be split to BC?

CFW is sex linked only males carry it...females can't pass it on except they can give males that are split so it is basically saying your female is like a normal gray.

So you will get females split to BC and males split to BC and CFW.

It is difficult to produce BCCFW with this pairing...it could take two to three generations.

for a more mutations option you can go to this site and ask to have the calculator down loaded.
