Ok so the babies that are colouring out are mostly not surprising. I've had one or two surprises like Yellow heads or white breasts (or both) when I did not suspect one or the other parent was split for it.
However this bird has me a little stumped.
It has a very light greenish blue back and what seems like the starts of a orangy red head.... definately a white breast though.
Any ideas what it is?
Parents are RH/b? WB GB male x BH PB/w GB hen
Compared to two of the others which are boys and the other Black head is a girl, this bird has very soft colouring. I'm just curious if anyone has had a youngster like this. I've not bred enough for long enough to judge.
Sorry these are all in the "unwell bird cage" so not all that happy, but I'm curious to know what this little one is. So far they responded well to heat and antibiotics. Holding thumbs they can make it through their moult.
Light green backed girl?

CandoAviary and Vertdemer have something similar, I believe. The above thread discusses the unique coloring of their birds.

Wow don't know how I missed that thread. So interesting. Thanks for the link.
I should be so lucky to get an opaline. They are stunning.
Funny how some of the rest of the clutch had more of the same young bird colouring that was posted. green wings and back but more brown and cream head and shoulders. However they all died unfortuantly. Mystery I'll not be able to solve.
