Re: BC Zebra Chick - What Mutation?
It is a male CFW/BC
BC is recessive and CFW is sex link...mom looks the part but does not carry the gene but will give males split to CFW
To get a visual as you did Dad must also be split to CFW...is he your stock or did you buy him?

Re: BC Zebra Chick - What Mutation?
cindy I bought the father from the Finch Farm in Wash. state. and he is beautiful and I breed him with a OC CFW hen. In all they had 4 chicks 1 is a normal OC male and then the one in the photo and 2 others not white kind of tan in color.

Sherry, I am curious as to what the mom looks like since there is no OC in the zebra mutations.... the females in the pictures look fawn.

Re: BC Zebra Chick - What Mutation?
If you could post both parents for us it will help with ID'ing the mutations the young carry. Since the female offspring are fawn than the father is also split to fawn.

Re: BC Zebra Chick - What Mutation?
Sherry, the male you first posted is a CFW male.
The mom is a cfw female
Dad is a normal gray, split fawn and also split to CFW and split to pied
Dad would be normal gray (NG)/pied, cfw, fawn
Did they tell you he was split to Black cheek?

Re: BC Zebra Chick - What Mutation?
ok...let's start over....
Dad is a BC...he is also split to fawn and split to CFW
Mom is a CFW
This resulted in your fawn females. Fawn is sex linked only males carry it but moms can be visual fawns only but give split to fawn males (one of your males may be split to fawn...can't tell who just now, you will have to breed him to find out)
Dad must also be split to CFW since the parents gave a visual cfw.
So your dad is written as this BC/fawn, cfw
I will try to break your percentages down...it is like a guess what to expect with from this pair.
CFW is also sex linked and mom can only be visual but can give split to cfw males. So together a visual mom and a split to cfw male gave a visual male.
You normal gray male offspring has wide tears, he looks to be split to BC.

Re: BC Zebra Chick - What Mutation?
You're welcome. Sherry if you want I can pm you a sort of cheat sheet and some sites to go to that can help in figuring out offspring outcome.
The family from your pair is very nice!
