I found these charts on another forum, and since we cannot copy and paste (not sure if I could have took the picture) I decided to post this here because it is very important, it will tell you how closely birds are related. If I could have tooken the picture it would be worth a sticky!:

I dunno. I've always been a little leery about breeding two half cousins, three times removed.

This is just statistics.
Meaning it's based on a large scale number.
The same reason breeding a /Blue x /Blue will not always produce a blue in every clutch even though it's a "25%" statistic with the pair.
I'd like to discuss situations where line breeding would be "necessary"?
Maybe with rare birds or rare species..
But I think there's a big difference between "necessary" and "want."

I didn't say it was necessary... I just posted it because it is cool to know how closely related they are

the when makes a difference, you are making it seem like I am saying it can be done any time you want... Like you said, a rare species. (such as strawberries?)

Which is why I said specifically let's discuss what constitutes necessary.. it wasn't an attack Dante, I was simply opening up the item for discussion to see when and how and why people line breed.

I know it wasn't an attack. Sorry I misunderstood your post.. I also think it is a good idea to discuss what makes it necessary... For example, if you can locate a mate for the bird, I do not think you should line-breed, there is no point if you can get an unrelated mate!!
