I have two Gouldian chicks that were hatched by an owl finch pair

. They are healthy and doing well being fed by owl pair and a gouldian pair. My question is the nodules next to their beeks one has 2 blue on each side of beek and the other has only 1 blue on the side of the beek. Would that be in any way determine the sex? Just curious why they don't have equal number of nodules. Hope I am spelling that right.....

Not sure I'm understanding what your saying. Gouldians have 3 nodules on each side of their beak. Are you saying one only has 2 on each side and one has 1 on each side? Are they newly hatched or fledglings?

Yes they are newly fledged two weeks ago. I do see three nodules on each side of the beaks but one has 2 blue+1 on each side and the other has only 1 blue nodule +2 on each side of the beak. Why wouldn't they have the same color nodules like 3 nodules each side with 2 of the 3 being blue.
Hope that clears up my thoughts.

Maybe it's because they are fading as they disappear? Can't say I really noticed color differences at that age.
