Help -- With ID of baby zebra

Post by Cold R » Wed Oct 31, 2012 10:10 pm

Ok just check the nest box today and found 4 baby's
But one stands out to me -- not sure what it's going to be
What do you guys think ?
Here's the father

Baby 1

Baby 2

Baby 3

And the mother is a normal grey / black cheek
Baby 4 doesnt have a hole lot of feather ing in yet so I didn't take a pic of the one but it looks like it's going to be that white color like the rest

Baby 3 is the one in question -- is it just me or is there a cream or fawn coloring to it's back -- and if so what is it going to be ?

The babies look cfw...wondering if dad is a CFW silver Isabel/fawn. I may be off on the Isabel but the young with the dark heads and are white (babies 1 and 2) looks CFW.

most likely yes! Dad may be split. Do you know anything about dad's background?

Looks light brown to me. That would give Isabel (or Florida Fancy).

Try these two links:
http://zebrafinch.info/colours/?language=en

http://zebrafinch.info/colours/genex.asp?language=en

On the genetics link insert what you know about the parents, and consider the results of their offspring.

On the colours page, play with the buttons a bit, to see if you get the colours that make sense to you.

On my screen the male looks like dominant cream.
Not very common I think.
Of course I could be wrong, but his cheeks are very light,
and the flanks and the whole body.
Very similar to DC.
The first two chicks are cfw females.
And the third chick could be just like the male.

That's what I thought he was two -- but I wasn't sure -- that's why I bred him to a normal grey to see if I get any like him --- if I do would that confirm that he is a dominant cream ? The Cfw -baby just throw me off

Baby number 4 is turning a more silver / white color -- I will post pics when he grows a few more feathers

So he thinks DS --- so what about the Cfw baby's --- that would make him DS / Cfw ?
