Defining my new Gouldian males

Dec 11 I bought 2 young Gouldian males, which are "visually" BH/WB/Gb/Bb

I was told the parents were Cock RH/WB/YB & Hen was BH/WB/BB

Using the Lady Gouldian forecaster it seems that this cannot be. It would seem the parent would have to be Cock OH/WB/SFYB and Hen BH/WB/BB.

Can someone verify this for me??? Thanks a heap :?

The father could be split to BH and SFYellow (RH/BH.WB.SFYb) to get your BH.WB.Gb/Bb male

Thanks Debbie; that must be it. Cause they did say the dad was RH, so he must be RH/BH.

Your welcome.
Also if the father was DFYellow the male chicks would also be visually Yellow even if they were SF because of the White Breast, to get a Green body chick the father had to be SF.

debbie276 Something I didn't mention in this thread Debbie, is that they both have YELLOW TIPPED BEAKS. Does this throw any light on what they are?

http://www.finchinfo.com/genetics/lady_ ... colors.php
If two yellow head genes are present on a bird that has no red head genes (and instead has black head genes), the bird will have a black head with a yellow tipped beak (YTB). This occurs because the bird is genetically a yellow headed bird, but it cannot express the yellow color because the yellow gene depends on the red head gene for expression, and the red head gene is not there.

So the parents were both split to Yellow Head also.
