Are these albino zebra finches?
I checked a clutch today and saw two different looking babies. Do you think they are albino?
Here are the parents. I was told they were supposed to be Dominant silver black cheek.

Re: Are these albino zebra finches?
The male may be split to CFW which would cause a reddish ting to the eye, but albino is not a mutatiomn in the zebra finch family.
Beautiful parents (if i am wrong, please do correct me, it has been quite a while since i kept up with my genetics)

Re: Are these albino zebra finches?
Albino is a lack of complete absence of melanin, the skin and hair are abnormally white and the eyes have a pink or blue iris and a deep-red pupil.
It will be interesting to see what comes of the pair. The beaks on the young are flesh color. Alex...look at the young on efinch....the baby in the first picture on the right, it is labeled Continental CFW....Wonder if what you have are 2 BC Continental CFW chicks. The Dad may carry the CCFW gene...these might be hens. If he was split to CFW then the young would be black skinned...he must be split to Continental CFW since the young are pink.

"Fledglings: Continental CFW chicks are easily identified in the nest. They have pink skin and bright pink eyes. The mouth is nearly totally void of the normal mouth markings"

I had a similar chick from a pied pair. She is white but not an albino. Her eyes are black and is a beauty:). Congratulations on the little ones!

I have been reading on efinch and think everyone is right. I think they may be light back black cheek and the male spilt to ccfw. On efinch under light back there is a picture of one with bc and that is what the parents look like. What does everyone think?

This sight shows a DS, you need to scroll through a bit http://www.emeraldisleaviary.com/zebrafinches.htm
If the parents came from the same aviary as the one you got the CCFW split BC for me from then it makes sense that there might just be Continental CFW in the bloodlines. CCFW chicks always have flesh colored beaks, red eyes. You other chicks (if males) could be splits to since dad is passing it on. It is sex linked and hens can not be split. He can give you visual hens.

Alex it makes sence about the Light back, one of the hens you got me is CCFW split BC but her back is a fawn/beige color the rest of her is the white like CCFWs.

Beautiful pair, and I agree LB BC.. I also agree that the chicks must be BC CCFW, which makes great contrast than the combination of BC and regular CFW. Congrats!

I think I am little bit jealous over here
Beautiful LB BC pair!
and dad must be split CCFW.
The pink babies are CCFW girls
and the darker babies look like LB.
They would most likely all be BCs!
Lightback split CCFW are very pretty mutation.
It makes the LB be even more light silvery color.
BC CCFW is even more prettier!
Black cheeks with almost pure white body,
silver black flanks (or black, or black and apricot color) and black tail bars.
