Fawn pied hen and dark dad made these babies

Post by love4finches » Mon Dec 31, 2012 3:45 pm

What color is the dad called (dad is second pic)? What color are the babies? They aren't chocolate or chestnut, I don't think.

Thank you Charlie!! Finally a very easy question for me! Happy New Year!! (That would make the fawn a hen if the male doesn't have fawn in him, right)? Guess won't know that til older.

Fawn in societies is recessive, not sex-linked. So this means dad is split to fawn. The chick may be a male or female. All the chocolate chicks will be split to fawn also

the babies have colored out and don't look like the dad at all. I have no idea what they are. Their color is darker than fawn and lighter than chestnut. Beautiful but strange. The fawn could be a male or female since the dad is split for fawn and mom was a fawn. Time will tell.
