I noticed today a female in my aviary that has the hourglass shape in the tail feathers, but no other markings of a split black breast. Like the reduced tear drops. This one has very dark marked tear drops and hourglass shaped tail. Culd it be that this one is a BB split?

the hourglass shape is the tell "tail" sign for a split. thin tears can also be a sign for BB split or split to OB. Not all birds that are split for recessive genes show all the signs.

Ok so then if she has the hourglass shape she is BB split even though she dosent have the other signs? I use to think that that they had to show all the signs. Thanks Cindy. Much help
