What color Zebras?

Post by Rin » Wed Oct 16, 2013 3:22 pm

Hi everyone!
Some help with identifying please. I think I know most but just to make sure. First picture is a phone pic of when I 1st got them. There are 5 female Fawn (?), a few pieds, a white female, and CFW female? I know its not the best pic but its so hard getting a clear one of this group. They are in a 5ft cage.

Then I got another flock of whites with 2 pieds. The white male looks odd, he is missing his cheeks but has some bars and the side spots. I dont know if all the females are CFW, some have darker spots on top of their heads.

Hi and welcome!!

You have Regular CFWs, fawns and pieds. The first group picture, the white hen in the left corner above the fawn hen...is that the hen tail in DSCN4836.jpg, does she have a black tear drop? If that is her tail and she does not have a tear drop she might be an Isabel.

Thank you. Sorry I wasn't clear, the female tail is from the 2nd group. The white hen in the 1st pic is just plain white. I'll die for a Isabel though! So the white male in the 2nd group pic is a plain cfw? I didn't know they come in a no cheek variation. I'm thinking of pairing him with the cfw hen from the 1st pic and that would give me all cfw chicks correct? And to get a fawn male is another story!

This site will help you in regards to the tail and what is considered a Regular CFW and a Continental CFW

http://www.efinch.com/species/cfwzeb.htm

http://www.efinch.com/varieties.htm

You should get CFWs if pairing two CFWs together, the gene is sex linked as is fawn.

To get a full visual fawn or full visual CFW or fawn you need a visual hen and a full visual male or a male split to the CFW or Fawn
