Hi everyone

I just got this silver gouldian today. Im very excited-have not dealt with silvers before. Not a huge silver fan but like what color variety they can provide. But i think silvers will grow on me after this one. Lol I am wondering if any of the gouldian experts can tell me what sex this silver is? Is it sf or df? I really don't know much about silver genetics.

Btw also got a bh wb gb gouldian too. Pretty sure its female ;)

Btw i forgot to mention...they are both 2013 hatched so still getting their adult colors.

At first glance it looks like a hen but the back looks like it has a bluish tint. Could it possibly be a Lilac Breast, do you know anything about the genetics of the parents?

Debbie....idk anything about it. I asked the guy if he knew anything if it was split for anything and etc....he said he doesnt remember. He said he though it was a hen too, but i wasnt sure. Do you know the head color? I appreciate your help.

About lilac..im not sure but there is a possibility of it. I did see a couple of lilac brested yellows in the cage next to this silver. But didnt ask if they were related or not.

Is it a single factor or double? How does one know or tell? Its still young so might be harder to tell? I tried reading on silver genetics and just got confused. Lol

If the head is a tanish color it is either a Red Head or a Yellow Head, both look the same in a Pastel Blue bird. If the head is white then it is a Black Head. All hens are SF, males can be SF or DF.

A Pastel Blue is a bird that has BOTH Pastel (Yellow) and Blue genes.

Thanks Debbie. Im thinking its a black head silver hen. Unless her head color hasnt colored yet? As of now...its white looking.
