Pied is a recessive gene, it is like an eraser to color when added to the mutation mix. Pieds can be anywhere from small patches of white to an all white pied as a result of generations of pied being added. Split to pied is when you have white wing edges, white on the top of the head or under the chin...likely a result of inheriting the pied gene from one not both of the parents. In zebras all white pieds are often confused with another mutation, Whites.
