Thanks Mia.

I'm very curious to see if we'll get some feathers coming in. I really want to grab him and take a good look at those bald spots, but want to give him a chance to settle in first. The poor little birdling has had enough stress for now.

He really is a little sweetheart and sings all the time.

lovezebs - I was looking at a couple of those photos in another thread and there's a patch of skin on the back of his head that looked a bit red.

Does he seem itchy to you?

If he doesn't start showing improvement within a week or two, I'd probably treat him for mites.

Proven or not, there is a common belief that Gouldians require more iodine in their diet than other birds, for a healthy moult.

That was always my understanding too, that if Gouldians didn't get enough iodine in their diet, they were subject to balding. When I had Gouldians, I always offered free choice kelp in a cup.
