Didn't breed him. Got him as a pair. Called him Bullet ...he was "quick to fire" as soon as I but the nest in...

Madcat Oh he is Purty!! Love the name & story too!! lovezebs I deffinitely see why this bird intrigued you, as he/she is beautiful. But often I get confused, especially on the "silvers" and "pastels" of this kind of bird (don't get me wrong I LOVE the white breast orange head, yellow back, i think that bird is GORGEOUS) but i digress.. i don't understand those lighter colors for this particular breed of bird because the beauty in a gouldian is the COLOR, so a bird void of these bright brilliant colors kind of takes away from the bird (and it's namesake, as the guy named it for his dying wife because he saw it and thought (the colors) it was the most beautiful bird he'd ever seen) So, as much as I do like the blues, and this photo you found, and Madcat's bird... i guess, I'm on the fence, cuz i do love the looks of these "pastels" (don't know if I ever saw a silver) I love the bright colors as well.... Now I'm just rambling...i guess. sorry guys... beautiful birds though!!! Thanks for listening to my crazy antics, and rambles!!! BTW debbie276 do you have any pics of a silver, or pastel?

Do you mean a SF Blue or a Pastel (yellow bodied) as a "pastel"?

She's not a whole lot different looking than Elana's pic at the beginning of this post!! Pretty, but like you said, I like the brigher colors!!! Thanks for that debbie276 I always wonder what a Silver looked like. I've heard that the genetics of these birds make them weaker as well...so I don't know, pretty, but i just don't get it... lol. Thanks again Deb. You're always so good to me!!! few more days and I'll be harassing you like crazy about mine!! So just preparing you!!! hahaha

Here's a RH.WB.SF Pastel (yellow) and a YH.PB Pastel (yellow) hen
Notice the gray chin on the male which is an indicator of SF. If he was DF the chin would be as white as his breast.

Here is a SF Pastel Blue ("pastel") and a RH.PB.Blue hen
Notice again the gray chin indicating SF, if it was DF he would be a Pastel Blue ("silver")

debbie276 They are nice looking... not so BLAH, like some of the other REALLY light ones. I like the blue, so i guess I get why all the rage. I think I just have a soft spot for Gouldians though!! LOL and Madcat Way to make me super jealous!!! Post pics when she's done her molt please? I could look at those birds ALL DAY!! (the red headed ones too) I feel like the yellow and red or Orange agains the white breast just makes the whole bird POP!!! Love it, that's probably one of the few "pastel" or light colors I really like... other than that, I love the regular, or "in the wild" gouldy colors.... although I will say I've never seen a gouldian I DIDN'T like, so that's why I say i think I have a soft spot for them!!! Hahahah thanks so much both of you!!! Are those your birds debbie276 or did you just breed and then sell them? The more pictures you show me, the more I'm contemplating driving down to NJ and getting your birds... I'm only in MA not too far away..... hmmm..... :-? *-:)

debbie276 Sorry, one last thing is RH mean red head? If so why does the RH have a black head? Or did i confuse the 2 birds? I assumed the lighter faced one was the male because you said notice the gray chin... but i first thought the black head was the male, because I thought RH meant red head.... sorry, I'm still learning, but with you in my corner I know I'll get it!!!!

Sorry, didn't want to post a third time, but i just saw the yellows...OMG i love those birds, the WB RH yellow is JUST GORGEOUS, by far my favorite combo in the Gouldy...red or orange head.. as orange is my favorite color!!! LOL, but i just saw the first post, (didn't scroll enough the first time, and only saw the blue birds post) but WOW, they are magnificent... thanks for the lesson, and the beautiful photos...i kind of want to steal them and use them as my profile... lol (don't worry, I would NEVER) [-X

They were ones I bred. I've down sized a lot and putting a hold on breeding for now.
They are both RH, Red Head, the hen just has more black then the male. Blue goulds have a tan/salmon colored head when they are RH or YH because they can't produce the red color
