What type of a Gouldian mutation is this?

Post by lovezebs » Sat Feb 28, 2015 3:00 am

Hello Gouldian Fans

Have you ever seen a Gouldian of this colour?
I'm curious to know what it is, and how they've come about creating this particular mutation????

~Elana~

BTW...I did try to get the url thingy, but it wouldn't be got. So forgive me Sally, and the copy rite police. I know, I know, I'll get the spray millet out ahead of time :-SS

Can't see the back well, is it white? If so I'd say a BH.PB.Pastel Blue hen IF it starts singing then a BH.LB.Pastel Blue male.

Thanks Debbie.
I just found these pictures and was amazed by the colour of this bird. Have you ever come across this particular mutation other than in pictures? Or bred something like this?

It just boggles the mind, that somehow out of the wild RH/PB/GB, someone managed to come up with this  .

As time goes by, I am more and more fascinated with how this particular species has been bred into so many different mutations in such a reletively short period of time. It's absolutely amazing.

I don't know if anyone has ever asked, but what got you into Gouldians? Did you breed other birds before, then decide that Gouldians were the ones that interested you the most? Or was it always Gouldians? Just curious :-D

I've had one or two males and females before, though I have to say green are my favorite.
It was actually my husband the said we needed gouldians, I bought zebra. FYI, had to get rid of the zebra, that beep beep beeping was driving me nuts LOL

" Beep beeping....."
That should be a whole thread on it's own.

I think most of us who have had Zebras for any period of time, develope something of a love/hate relationship. With some people, the scale dips more in one direction, with others, in the opposite direction.

I really do think that it has something to do with the "beep beeping", and at times also with their somewhat ..... (how shall I put this delicately? ) somewhat feisty, pugnacious personalities. Aside from 'that', they are beautiful little birds, with numerous pretty mutations....... but there is always the 'that factor', when all is said and done. ~X( #-o

Hey! I bought one like that from a friend here on the forum. I have the silver paired with a split to blue bh.wb.gb. I think I have all yellows but that's ok maybe next time I'll get some silvers in the clutch.

You will not get "silver" with a Green/Blue you need a pastel gene also not just blue gene to get Pastel Blue aka "silver"

Good luck.

It is a pretty colour mutation. Do you find that they are as hardy and healthy as the original normal mutation, or are they more frail?

He almost looks like a Lilac Breast, but colors in the pics can often be deceiving.
Nice bird though =D>
