Red heads?

Post by kyle » Mon Aug 10, 2015 1:09 am

I was sent a picture of the parents of my latest Gould from the breeder. Then was looking at the possibilitys on the Gouldian calculator. The breeder thinks the head colour of my chick can be black or grey as he put it. I think the parents in the picture from red heads? Which explains the straw colour. is there a a likelihood she could be anything other than straw headed?

Don't know the genetics Kyle, just wanted to ask a question.

What colour is the Mom? She looks like she is gray and white in the picture?

Elana, It's not a great picture because it was in the sun. But here is picture back on. It's a dark blue with a greyish hue.

If your male is split to BH then you could possibly have a BH hen chick. All males will be RH along with some RH hens.

Are you sure they are RH and not YH because you can't tell with Blue body

Thanks Kyle.
She's a very interesting looking bird, I have to say.
I am not a huge fan of some of the blue mutations, but I find the blue with the while face, white chest, and white belly quite attractive.

Debbie 276 no I'm not sure. You're right it's possible I don't know what the grandparents are. I'll have to wait until next year to find out for sure.
Elana its my favorite combo of blue Gould as well and I think the black head is particularly smart with thatl
