How to get Pied diamond finch chiks

Friends,

I am new to this forum, happy to be member of finch forum.

Recently I got a gray pied diamond male, with wings full of white. If i want to get pied chiks from that male pied, should I pair it with Silver diamond female or with normal female ?

Unfortunately only one diamond pied male was available in my circle. It will be of great help if the members help me to understand the mutations on diamond firetails.

Sandy, I see you didn't fill in your location. Where do you live? I think you must breed your pied cock to a normal hen, and then breed one of the daughters back to the father. Hopefully a daughter with a couple of white feathers in the wings.

pied cock with normal hen -all young produced will be normal appearance and split to pied. following that particular mating these normal/unmarked pied bird mated to the same can produce unmarked/light/normal and heavy pieds mutations in the one nest.
after that you could try hen with son or cock with daughter etc

I'd try him with the silver female only because I /we have no silvers here in oz...lol or none that I am aware of. better still you could let him loose with both hens and see which one he prefers the best

Hi Friends,

I have posted the Pics of the Silver Diamond and Pied Diamond. unfortunately The Silver is a Adult male and pied Diamond is a semi adult female. I put them together, Silver seems to accept her readily.

Kindly let me know, If I pair them any chance of getting a Pied diamonds ?? and Silver ??

Note: Its my mistake, i have interchanged the sexes of the Pied and Silver in my first post.
