Hi!
I would like some help with the colours of my canaries (I know it's not easy from just pictures) and what there genetics could be (I know I can't get all of it because I have no clue of the parents colours). And a also would like some help with colour genetics in canaries (how it works and tips on good literature and web pages) I'm already familiar with colour genetics in budgies, ringneck doves and rabbits.
And do someone know the genetics of the frilled canaries? (Only know how the inheritance work for the crested breeds).

I hope someone understand what I'm after

Re: Canary colour help
They fly really well =D The wing feathers are normal so they have no problem with it (otherwise I wouldn't have wanted to have or breed them because I think a bird should always be able to fly).

Always wondered how well they fly with those wings. They are very interesting to look at.

Maleficum,
I don't know a thing about canaries, but I just wanted to say how unique and pretty they look! Very nice

Re: Canary colour help
Here are two good canary color sites: http://www.ariafromabirdcage.com/Color.htm
http://www.fifecanary.org/index.html#COLOUR
Canaries have one 'ground' color (yellow, or white, or red)
And also overlay colors: black, brown. Sometimes two overlay colors, sometimes one overlay color, sometimes no overlay color.
There is more to it, of course, but those are the basics.
The wild type (green) canary has a yellow ground color with both black and brown overlay colors. The pictures you're showing are the green canary---some would call them yellow-brown-black.
