Hello, my first question would be what are the possibilities for the parents of this Bird? I'm trying to understand genetics and it seems impossible. From what I have heard I'm thinking the parents must have been black heads, but would like to confirm.

Second question: If I have a male and female that are both RH/PB/GB but split to blue can they produce blue birds if bred together?

The hen could be RH or BH and the male BH or RH/BH (RedHead split to BLackHead) to produce a BH chick

Yes, if both Green body birds are split to Blue they can produce Blue chicks.

Pretty bird by the way...I've got five juveniles at home now who came from a blue hen and a yellow male. A couple look like they might stay white.

Thanks! I hope to get into the blue Gouldians this year. I have a few that are split to blue so I just have to find the right blues for them. Also have to convince the fiancé that it's a good idea to have more birds haha...

Hello, Im a new breeder of Lady Gouldians and don't understand anything with regard to genetics either. I have been looking to possibly purchase yellow backs or blue and have no idea where to get them from. What do I need to breed together to even produce those mutations?

Hi Danny! Welcome to the forum! I'm still trying to decipher gouldian genetics myself, but debbie276 is a gouldican genetics expert. I'm really wishing she would teach an online course!!!!!!

I have one last pair of gouldians that's sitting on a second clutch. The hen is very young, so her first clutch didn't hatch. I thought I would give her another chance before I stop breeding them for the season. My other pair, (yellow male and blue hen), are finished, and ended up with five juveniles. I think two of the five are silver hens. They're completely white.

I'm not sure yet....one has a lot of yellow on it's back, and the other two have just a little yellow.
