Hi all, I recently got two new Goulds both are dilute. Looking on the genetic calculator I realized there was no option for dilute. I am assuming dilute is considered single factor yellow genetically? because both are purple breasted they cannot express the same yellow as a white breasted bird?

A dilute is only found in Australia. What you have is a SFPastel, If it was WB it would be visually yellow body.

Thanks Debbie. I'm a little bit confused everything I've read about pastel refers to Blue pastel. Whenever I come across a green yellow mix they refer to it as dilute. Where am I going wrong?

Many years ago people started calling the SF Pastel "dilute" and the SF Pastel Blue "pastel". There is a mutation in Australia that is a true Dilute with totally different genes then the SF Pastel. Another example is the "silver" which is a made up term for the Pastel Blue.
It can get rather confusing at times.

Your birds are SF Pastel meaning they only have one Pastel gene so the body is a lighter green then normal and all black areas are grey. If a male bird has two pastel genes the body would be yellow in color and all black areas white because the Pastel gene blocks the color black.
