Zebra Finch Male Eye Color

I have a paired male and female.
The female has white markings on her head which I have on all my other males except one. A cream colored belly and a lighter grey.
This male has red/brown eyes. I've watched for signs of illness, but research said that only wild finch have these colored eyes.
I'm very confused. There were other birds and types of finch in the cages, I was told I was getting an established pair, but I am wondering if I didn't end up with a bad breeding.
I really wish I had found you guys before buying. Either way, I'll still be keeping my birds. I just want to know if I can breed the males eye color to the females patterns and if these are mixed birds or not. If my birds are sterile, perhaps I can locate other birds who need companions and still maintain the pairing ratio I've read about.
