Gouldian Finch with two breast colours

Hello,
I have a year and a half old male Gouldian who is black head, white breast, green back and split for blue.
He however has a splash of a purple line going around the white on his chest. Has anyone see this before or is there a mutation name for this? Would he still be white breasted?
He is from a very reputable breeders and when I got him as a youngester she thought after his moult he would go completely white breasted or purple breasted.
Not that I care as he is our pet, but is this mutation considered a fault?
He had his head tucked in on his left side prior to me waking him up to take this pic so that is why his feathers are all ruffled there...and his mood too by the 'you woke me up!' look on his face

He hasn't had a molt yet. Will be neat to see what happens when he does.

I tend to agree with your breeder. Sometimes for whatever reason it takes a couple molts for the true colors to come out.
If it stays the same I would tend to think Melanism but I have a feeling it will molt out.

Alley There are couple of people in South Africa, who has bred whitebreasted gouldians with lots of blue in the breast. It doesn't molt out and seems to to breed true. They are trying to increase the amount of blue in the offspring.

Hello all,
Here is an update on my male. He went though his molt this year and still has the same chest colours going on...maybe he needs sometime with some more molts. Either way I think its kind of cool
