Post by Alia » Thu Apr 13, 2017 1:28 am

I have new gold breasts and i am wondering when they can be visually sexed. I see one has brighter orange ... but wondering hen the males get their "Batman" eye stripe?

Hi Ali,

From what I can find in my books, the tiny tots get their adult colours at approx three months of age, at which point you can sex them visually.

Would love to see somepictures of the kids on here :D

They are lovely tiny birds really.
I think because they are so tiny, people often overlook them.

Alia, I have a pair of gold breasts too. They are SO tiny. My hen laid 3 eggs but they abandoned the nest. The eggs were all clear anyhow. I moved the nest and they are back in it but no eggs yet. Cool little birds!

Sorry been offline- just getting to my unread messages now - .... I had a successful birdy year all round and have 2 large families of these beauties now and multiple gouldians etc. I've taken out all nests and am finding eggs on the bottom tray broken - S T O P! LOL. Really happy.
