Silver Lady Gouldian Genitics Calculators

Post by Alley » Sat Aug 19, 2017 3:24 pm

Hello,
I have been checking out the Gouldian mutation calculators online to decide what to breed my silver head/purple breast/yellow back hen to. I'm in no rush as I won't be breeding her till next year at the earliest and that's if I can find a male that's breeding age for her.
My question is none of the calculators have the option to input a silver head so does anyone know a site that does?
Or if I would like to try to produce some other silver head/yellow backs or silver head/blue backs with her what mutation of male should I seek?
I want to do this the healthest way possible so I'm ok if it takes a few generations.
Thank you

Hi
I'm pretty sure there are no silver head Gouldians. Maybe you mean black head since on yellow back mutations they turn white or off white? I'm sure one of the Gouldian experts here can better address your question. They are very helpful.

There are no silver head gouldians.
The Pastel mutation prevents the color black to be produced so all BlackHead Pastel gouldians have white heads.
So, if you breed for BH Pastel you will get what you are calling silver head.

Alley

On a blueback this would be a redhead or a yellowhead. Bluebacks cant express those colors.

Yellowbacks cant have visually black heads (like your girl there.....she's a BH but she cant show it.)

Bluebacks are able to have visually black heads.

If you paired her with a blackhead purplebreast greenback (BH PB GB) you would get something like this....possibly a darker grey head. I think this is kind of what you are looking for. Only the males would have this color head.

I found this picture on another thread on our site.

Other than the red head and purple breast male, this is my favourite male.
