Shaft tail Finches

Post by shae.ray27 » Mon Aug 28, 2017 1:01 pm

Hi there! I have a pair of shaft tail finches I'm considering breeding. The male is an isabel mutation and the female is white. Does anyone know what colors the babies might be? I can't seem to find much on genetics and color mutations

the white, does she have a brown bib?

this is a creamino hen... creamino is sex linked... the hen if not paired with a split to creamino or visual creamino male will only give you split to creamino males.

Isabel is recessive.... unless the hen is split to Isabel you will likely get normals/Isabel... males will also be split to creamino.

Yes she has a brown bib. So all the babies will likely look normal unless each parent has a hidden trait of the other? IDK anything about the parentage of either of them so it's a surprise!

unless dad is split to creamino you will not get visual creamino.... any male off spring will be split to creamino and they will give you visual creamino hens and males split to creamino if not paired with a visual creamino hen.... hens can't be split to creamino, a sex linked gene, they are only visual but will give you split to creamino males.
