Fawn Self Society Finches

Post by Icearstorm » Fri Sep 08, 2017 4:44 pm

I'm finding hardly any information or photos of fawn self societies online. Do any of you have them? My male American chocolate self (Laser) is split for fawn, so it could be neat to get some fawn self babies.

Here are some of the only articles I can find:

Euro Red/Brown

We have a nice Fawn self that we got from Amber. I don't know if she has any now, but when she does her birds are extremely nice. We got three from her last year.

They're very nice looking birds; if only I lived closer! I'm still a bit suspicious of shipping.

Fraza
She looks more chestnut to me. The one light wing feather may indicate pied.

Fraza

They seem to be fairly rare compared to the other societies. I got two fawn pieds from Laser and Whitehead the Venegeful or Finch the Finch (fawn double-factor pied females) in the last brood, and they had nice color (though they did look more peachy in natural light):

Icearstorm

Here's a picture of a Fawn Self that I came across.

The Reds by the way are absolutely gorgeous.

If you get a hold of Roy Beckham (from eFinch) he should be able to tell you what to breed with what to get a Fawn self.

It's interesting how that one has hardly any underbelly markings. I wonder if it's just individual variation, or if fawn normally causes less visible scaling.

I'm not familiar with the second munia. It looks interesting.

We've had a bit of light rain, so about normal weather.
