Below is a picture of my society finch parents that hatched three babies 12 days ago. The dark chocolate one in the middle is the male, and the other two are females. Is there a way to know what sex each baby is based on the color of its feathers (i.e., if the feathers are light, then the chick is boy/girl)?
I know the answer is probably "wait and see," but where's the fun in that?!
Also, when do males start singing?
Thanks, y'all.

Hi no there’s no way in knowing in the feather s however I have noticed hat when they are about 2 weeks old just before they fledge the beaks that have more of a brownish tint and are more curved seem to come out the females
Also once they start to tweet the females will have more of a peer and a ringing sound hope u find out
And they usually sing about 6-8 weeks for me

You can't visually sex but boys begin to quietly sing to themselves around 4 weeks old.

Thanks. Guess I don’t have too long to wait before my boys start singing.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no special method to sex these babies untill they start singing (or not).
