Breast genetics in Gouldians

Post by kyle » Tue Dec 19, 2017 10:37 pm

Hi all,
Is it considered to be poor breeding to pair two white breasted gouldians together for the same reasons it's a poor idea to breed two blue backs together?

Hi, I have no experience with gouldians, but I found this, not sure if it will help much.

There is a big enough gene pool now that WB to WB is ok.

I agree with Debbie. In the past i have bred WB to WB with absolutely no issues and the chicks were big and healthy. I try to make sure that those babies are bred back with purple breasts the next year to keep the gene pool strong.
