First time with a clutch from these parents! All 5 looking healthy so far. Any speculations on colors or genetics?

Knowing the parent's phenotype would be a help. There are sites with genetic calculators that will give you the percentage probabilities of various crosses. One such site:
http://www.gouldianfinches.eu/sk/geneti ... a/english/

Disregard this. Its clearly nonsense.

paul-inAZ it’s not nonsense but I think I have experience with them I don’t agree with the way u stated

To be honest what experience do u have

And for seconds society’s don’t have a genetic calculator because it’s basic as it is , E.g. breed a self to a self it’s gonna be a self , breed a double factor pied with a self then you get a pied , breed a single factor pied with self u get mixed etc so learn yours facts first

the question was about Gouldians. Your response IS nonsense.

Experience? Decades more than yours.

Based on this site, I'd guess 2 SF yellows, 1 yellow (hen?), and 2 greens. I'm not super experienced with nestling ID, though, so take it with a grain of salt.

Fraza Ah, well, 'No harm, No foul'. I can't tell you how many times I've read or looked at a post incorrectly..( I usually blame aging eyesight- which you cannot do, young man) lol You were just checking to see if we were paying attention, right?

Looks like 3 yellow and 2 normals (colors-barring splits). But I'd have to see the open mouths better on the darker chicks. If their middle nodule is white they are probably blue.

Can you get clearer photos?

That's very interesting, Babs. I didn't know you could tell mutation from color of mouth nodules. I knew the pattern/colors differed by type of finch. Anymore facts about nodules? Fascinating topic.... perhaps an interesting string.

Babs,
* Oh my. Just noticed date on this post. Sorry so out of sequence.
Still think this would make an interesting string
