Crested finch * split or normal zebra results

Post by KeeperOfBirds » Fri Apr 12, 2019 1:55 pm

Hello Fellow Bird lovers,

I'm new to crested finch varieites and need your assistance here
What chicks will i get if i breed -
Crested * Normal
Crested * crested Split
crested Split * crested Split
crested Split * Normal

I just bought a pair of Crested, pair of Split and 2 pairs of normal Zebras.
Want to know the best ways of getting crested. (im aware crested * crested is a bad choice :| )

It's getting quite interesting to know about crested ones!!!
Appreciate some assistance here :)))

I think if you breed a crested with a normal it’s 50/50 chance of crested out of the whole clutch

I’m not 100 percent sure

Maybe ask haroun icestorm

hi KeeperOfBirds hi Fraza
crested is a dominant mutation , there is no split for , so the mutation is exists and showing or doesn't it couldn't be recessive (hidden ), because of that dominant trait , we couldn't cross two crest bird , the offsprings could DIS (lethal) , or weak with double crest
btw KeeperOfBirds can we see a pic of ur birds

so the best way is
to putdo like this crested x non crested u're sre to get 50% of offsprings to be crested ,the sex doesnt matter.

Fraza. Yep as i guessed, dilute cream a combination of pastel aka dilute a dominante mutation and the fawn mutation
Dad for sure is a pastel has he the back fawn or grey.? He could be split for BC
Mum is fawn Split for BC cuze of large tear drop and the smudged chest.
I think one the chicks is Dilute BC
Same here i'm still seeking for pastel
