Pied genetics

Post by Silvermarten » Sun Dec 10, 2006 10:16 am

Just wanted to check that I had this right :D
In zebra finches I understand pied is a recessive trait .
So both parents must carry it to have offspring that exhibit the pied markings .

Just checking as my pied grey male and his normal grey female have 2 chicks one of which is pied . So if I understand this correctly would mean that the grey female is split for pied .
Correct ?

Thanks :D

It's fun finding out what genes are being carried by what appear to be normal greys . I'm thrilled to have a pied baby in the first generation :D
