I produced a gouldian hen this year that I think is a seagreen. It's really hard to get her true color in a picture. But I tried to get her next to some other birds so you can see the difference.

I also produced this guy. You can't tell from the picture but he is HUGE! He is atleast 20% larger than any of my other birds.

Yes I did have one for a period of time. I basically had her on "loan" from Lainey to try to do some test breeds.
As it turns out, I won't be able to breed her as soon as I had hoped, so Lainey has taken her back to pair her up with one of her OH, PB Normal males just to try to get some babies out of her and see how they are.
This bird was also a true mutant that just cropped up out of a pair of true producing OH, PB Normals. No splits (that she is aware of) in the lines, and none of the other offspring from the line have produced anything of the sort.

Lainey has her again now, but here are some pictures of her from when she was at my place.

I find this color really does not show up properly when you photograph them - but I definitely see a similar back color in your hen, I see that she probably looks similar to this hen I had.

Christopher that yellow male is beautiful! I would love to see a picture of him next to another gouldian to compare size.

I would love to have gouldians here in the UK but I have heard that because they are quite delicate birds they would need to be inside in the winter - is this correct?
All my birds stay outside, even when it snowed this year!

I am sure gouldians would not survive that cold weather. They need to be kept in warmer climates . Mine are all kept at temps between 65-85 degrees.

I notice a difference in the two seagreen ones presented here. Christopher's has the lower breast color of a blue but Tiffany's has the lower breast color of a green. Interesting huh?

Yes I thought that was right - they do sell them over here and I can only imagine (and hope) that the owners take them inside in the winter

The belly color of my hen is not like a blue in real life. It's a subdued yellow color. The belly of a blue has no yellow to it at all. It tends to be sort of a cream color.
